Robert John Pedrick, Jr. born on January 3, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York City, USA.
He is actually retired from the music industry. When in the active he acted as Bobby Pedrick, Jr. in late 50s. From 1965 till he retied in mid 80s he recorded as Robert John. His first hit was in 72 after doing a cover of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by The Tokens wich was also a cover from the South African's Solomon Linda.
But Robert John's biggest hit would come in 79 with his own songwriting "Sad Eyes" becoming #1 in US and a worldwide success.
