Irene Cara was a superstar in late 70's and early 80's. She started being famous in 77 being part of "Sparkle". The character "Coco" in the tv serie Fame would put Irene Cana as one of the most popular actress of that time and as a singer the main theme "Fame" would conquer the charts. Because the success of the tv serie was earth global, a movie would follow. Irene was one of the few that mantained the original roles. Later as a singer Irene Cara would arrive at her highest point in the career by winning an Oscar for the best original song wich was the main theme of Flashdance. She was also co-author of the classic you still continue to hear nowadays: "Flashdance... What a Feeling!" and this makes Irene Cara immortal.
